If Two Or More Are In Agreement

If you have read any of the other articles in this series, you know that we need to look at the context to see what is wrong with the number of people who use this verse. But before we do, can you see some problems with the idea that God will grant the request of those who gather and agree in prayer? First, Jesus said in his name «where two or three are gathered,» so how could this apply to attitudes of four or more? And why will two or three believers come together so that Jesus may be in their midst? Isn`t he already present in every believer? So even if a Christian prays, isn`t Jesus already there? Verses 21-35 Although we live entirely from mercy and forgiveness, we are lagging behind in forgiving the crimes of our brethren. This parable shows how much God has the provocation of his family on earth and how unpleasant his servants are. There are three things in the parable: 1. The Wonderful Grace of the Master. The guilt of sin is such that we cannot pay for it. Look here at what every sin deserves; it is the reward of sin, which will be sold as a slave. It is the folly of many who are under strong convictions of their sins to believe that they can make God satisfied with the injustice they have done to him. 2.

The servant`s unreasonable severity towards his companion, despite his Lord`s grace to him. It is not to shed light on the iniquity of our neighbour, for it is also a sin against God; But we should not aggravate the injustice of our neighbour and not study revenge. May our lamentations, both on the wickedness of the wicked and on the afflictions of the oppressed, be brought to God and abandoned with him. 3.The Master repressed the cruelty of his servant. The greatness of sin increases the richness of mercy forgiveness; and the convenient feeling of forgiving mercy does much to get rid of our hearts, to forgive our brethren. We must not believe that God truly forgives men and that after that they are guilty of condemning them; but this second part of the parable shows the false conclusions that many draw about their forgiveness of their sins, although their post-behavior shows that they never entered the Spirit or experienced the holy grace of the Gospel.
