When Will Dish And Fox Come To An Agreement

DISH Network Corporate Communications, press@dish.com or 720-514-5351 Customer Service, executivecustomerservice@dish.com Employment Verification, voe@dish.com IRVING, TX (WVNS) – At 19 .m December 2020, DISH Network removed the local network and community programming of 164 local television channels, Nexstar Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NST). DISH refuses to obtain a new distribution agreement that gives the satellite TV giant the right to continue broadcasting Nexstar`s highly rated show. DISH also removed Nexstar`s cable network, WGN America, from its system and denied subscribers access to the only national newscast NewsNation, the only national prime time news program in the United States. As a result, millions of Americans across the country have lost local news, transportation, weather, sports and entertainment programs, as well as critical and recent news about the COVID 19 pandemic. In DISH`s statement that it intended to obscure subscribers of their local and network programming and Nexstar content, the satellite provider did not acknowledge that the expiring agreement with Nexstar was reached at the end of 2016. As a result, over the past four years, DISH has benefited from the fact that nexstar has been paid significantly below Nexstar`s market relocation authorization fee, while inserting significant rate increases for its subscribers. DISH ignores the fact that Nexstar`s network costs continue to increase due to the reverse comp (programming and content payments from local broadcasters such as Nexstar to networks). In addition, Nexstar continued to invest for viewers and distributors, expanding local news and other programs in its markets, purchasing expensive weather equipment and offering a wide range of enhanced services in its local communities. The deadline for a new agreement is 7 p.m.m local time (17 .m PT). If no agreement is reached, it could mean that Dishs would lose more than 9 million satellite subscribers. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

While Nexstar continues to hope that a solution can be found today, DISH does not want to reach an agreement with Nexstar, but Nexstar intends to actively inform consumers in the relevant markets on how to continue to receive their preferred network programming, detailed local news, other content and programs relevant to their communities and critical updates in case of emergency. It was also not possible to reach a new agreement on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of more than 60 channels on DirecTV, AT-T-verse and the TELEVISION broadcasting service AT-T. On the other hand, Nexstar has regularly concluded public broadcasting and transport agreements with its cable, satellite and telecommunications partners and successfully concluded agreements with nearly 200 distributors in October in October. In addition, since the acquisition of Tribune Media in September 2019, Nexstar has successfully entered into agreements with distributors covering more than 50% of the company`s national presence. «I want to thank our DISH Network partners who have worked tirelessly to help us succeed,» said Mike Hopkins, President of Fox Networks Affiliate Sales and Marketing.
